Meet the Presenter: Bruce Janu
Educator | Filmmaker | Radio Producer

Bruce Janu has spent his career at the intersection of storytelling and history. As a veteran educator and librarian, he knows how to command a room and make complex subjects—from history to sociology—accessible and fun.

His work as a filmmaker brings a cinematic flair to his presentations, utilizing high-quality visuals and atmospheric storytelling. His award-winning short horror film, Say My Name, provided the inspiration for his psychology of fear sessions (and the introduction of the film’s “cursed” doll, Mallory). Currently, Bruce is producing a documentary on the Ingenues, a premier all-girl jazz orchestra from the 1920s.Complementing this is his background as a radio producer, where his deep-rooted obsession with audio technology and “the needle” inspired his extensive collection of historical recording artifacts.

Whether he is deconstructing the “uncanny” in horror, cranking a 100-year-old phonograph or chewing charcoal for a cave painting demonstration, Bruce’s mission is to create immersive, “turn-key” experiences that spark curiosity and bridge the gap between generations. And his career as a history teacher and filmmaker makes these experience not only educational, but unique and engaging.
